Zoll completes Vyaire ventilator product line acquisition - MassDevice

October 15, 2024 By Danielle Kirsh

Zoll this week announced it completed the previously announced acquisition of certain assets of Vyaire Medical’s ventilator business.

The two companies announced the deal in August following Vyaire’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Now that the acquisition is complete, Zoll will sell Vyaire’s Bellavista, Fabian, LTV and 3100 HFOV product lines alongside its other respiratory care offerings.

According to Zoll, all ventilators and associated consumables, service parts, accessories and service program offerings in the acquired product lines will continue to be sold where currently available. The existing Vyaire contact channels will also remain available for use during the transition period.

“Zoll’s acquisition of select Vyaire ventilator product lines is an exciting opportunity for our customers and our company,” Zoll CEO Jon Rennert said. “We now have the ability to serve even more patients and customers, furthering our mission of improving patient outcomes and helping save lives.”

Vyaire’s ventilator business was an integral part of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. It had one of the most significant ventilator contracts with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and received over $400 million to manufacture 32,300 ventilators in the first half of 2020.

In June, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to obtain sufficient financing to continue business operations while marketing its business units for sale.

Vyaire is not the only company with a struggling ventilator business. Medtronic said earlier this year that its ventilator business was slowing. It later exited the ventilator business altogether after finding that it was no longer profitable.
